Ad Astra Diagnostics

During my first semester, I completed an industry project with Ad Astra Diagnostics focused on supporting the development and regulatory positioning of a point-of-care complete blood count device. My work centered on evaluating biological variance data for five novel biomarkers, determining allowable total error limits using established clinical laboratory standards, and synthesizing findings into clear scientific recommendations. I contributed to the analysis and interpretation of within-subject and between-subject variability, generated ATE ranges aligned with regulatory expectations, and helped prepare documentation that demonstrated the clinical and analytical rationale behind proposed performance targets. This project strengthened my ability to translate quantitative data into regulatory-ready insights and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team working to advance diagnostic innovation.

Ummino

During my practicum, I completed an industry project with Ummino focused on generating empirical proof of demand for a novel prebiotic fiber, Hummino, designed to treat leaky gut symptoms. My work centered on conducting a targeted voice-of-customer campaign within the NC State University community to gather primary consumer data and validate the market potential of this functional nutrition solution. I contributed to the collection and analysis of quantitative consumer insights, translating these findings into a professional B2B sales toolkit intended for negotiations with major food and specialty nutrition companies. This project strengthened my ability to bridge the gap between consumer research and business development while providing actionable data to support the strategic growth of a biotechnology startup.
